For the past few years, I have been working on a choose-your-own-adventure style story system. These are stories that make you decide how to proceed as you read through them. By the options you select, you advance toward your ultimate destiny. Will you find treasure, live happily ever after, or fall off a cliff? No worries should you hit a dead end; return to the beginning and try again.
The most interesting part for me is the author’s workbench. At it’s simplest, the writer needs to come up with a story with a variety of twists and eventual endings. Creating a tool that allows even the most basic storytelling has been a challenge. At first, this may be less of a game and more of a library with a writing desk, where everyone gets a chance to explore stories and draw out their own.
